Privacy Policy for LenderRecall

1. Data Collection and Handling

   LenderRecall does not collect or transmit any personal data automatically. The only data we collect and store is the information you manually enter directly into the application. This collected data includes:
   • Item Name / Description
   • Person's Name
   • Transaction Date
   • Photo Reference (URI/Path): If you choose to link a photo to a transaction, the app records a secure reference (such as a URI or file path) to that photo, which allows the app to display it from your device's storage. Important: LenderRecall stores only this link, not a copy of the actual image file. We, the developers, do not have access to these photo references or the images themselves.

2. Data Storage and Retention

   Local Storage

   All data collected, including Item Name, Person's Name, Date, and any associated Photo References, is stored locally and exclusively on your own device within the application's private storage area. We do not use any external servers, third-party databases, or cloud services to store your operational data.

   Backups (Android Auto Backup)

   Your locally stored data, including the Photo References, may be backed up automatically to your personal Google Drive account via the standard Android Auto Backup feature, depending on your device's settings. The control over this backup process is entirely within your hands. You manage and control Android Auto Backup through your device's system settings, not through the app itself. The data is secured by Google and associated with your Google Account.

3. Data Sharing

   LenderRecall does not automatically share any of your data with anyone.
   The only way your transaction details can be shared is if you, the user, explicitly initiate a sharing action within the app using the Android Share Sheet function. This feature allows you to send selected transaction details to other apps (e.g., email, messaging services) installed on your device. By using the Android Share Sheet, you are choosing to share that specific piece of data, and that data is subject to the privacy policies of the third-party application you choose to share with.

4. Permissions

   LenderRecall is designed to function with minimal permissions, prioritizing your privacy:
   • Photo Selection: When linking photos, the app utilizes the modern Android Photo Picker. This is a significant privacy feature because it allows you to select photos without the app needing broad storage permissions to view all your files.
   • Sensitive Permissions: The app does not request or use any other sensitive device permissions, such as:
   • Location
   • Camera (unless you use a third-party camera app to take a photo, which is managed by that app)
   • Microphone
   • Contacts
   • SMS
